Safety
Your letters, completely secure
A future letter is personal. It may hold promises, grief, love, plans, or the version of you that exists only today. Our job is to keep it private, preserve it carefully, and deliver it only when the chosen day arrives.
Your letter is encrypted at rest
Letter content is encrypted before it is stored, using AES-256-GCM. That means the saved text is not kept as readable plain text in the database.
Access is tied to your account
You sign in with secure email links, and private letter pages require an authenticated account with permission to view or edit the letter.
Delivery is confirmed before it is sent
For letters sent to someone else, recipient confirmation helps prevent unwanted or mistyped deliveries before a future letter is scheduled.
You can delete what you create
You can delete individual letters, remove attachments, and permanently delete your account from the product when you no longer want us to keep your data.
What is protected
The Time Post is designed to protect the private material that makes up your future letter:
- Letter content - the words you write are encrypted before storage
- Media and attachments - private files are stored in managed storage and accessed through time-limited signed URLs
- Delivery details - recipient email, scheduled date, payment state, and confirmation state are used to operate the service
- Account access - sign-in is handled through passwordless email authentication
How delivery is handled
Scheduled letters are picked up by a protected delivery job. When a letter is due, the system creates an opening link, sends the delivery email, and records whether the email was sent or failed. If a send attempt fails, the letter remains scheduled so it can be tried again instead of silently disappearing.
What you control
- Edit a letter before it is scheduled
- Delete eligible letters you no longer want stored
- Remove uploaded media or attachments before scheduling
- Add a backup email so you are less likely to lose access
- Permanently delete your account and associated letters
What we do not promise
No online service can honestly promise perfect delivery forever. Email providers, spam filters, expired addresses, payment-provider issues, infrastructure outages, or recipient confirmation problems can affect delivery. We design The Time Post to reduce those risks, retry failed work where appropriate, and make the state of each letter as clear as possible.
